Instrumental Ensemble
"Cottage"

Instrumental ensemble "Cottage" - musical group from St.-Petersburg founded in 1992 under the direction of Mikhail Likhachov, the teacher of Children's musical school of a name V. V. Andreyev.

Mikhail Likhachov is known composer, poet, button accordion player, active creative man, whose artistic ideas decorate cultural life of St.-Petersburg.

The idea of creation of ensemble has appeared as a result of numerous attempts to combine accordion with other musical instruments. Mikhail often performed in concerts with the musicians of St.-Petersburg and with the musical school colleagues, thus in practice studying specificity of a combination accordion with other instruments - violin, flute, oboe, guitar, trumpet, piano etc. The performances held on various city concert stages, thus on public the creative ideas and plans of the performers were checked. By 1992 there was a constant instrumental structure of ensemble: violin, clarinet, button accordion, bass-guitar, drums. The ensemble has united in the structure of the creative artists - musicians of concert, theatrical and military orchestras, teachers of musical educational institutions of St.-Petersburg. Since 1996 the ensemble performs in following constant structure: Elena Malzeva (violin), Dmitry Fiodorov (clarinet), Mikhail Likhachov (button accordion), Anton Siniukov (bass-guitar), Viktor Nikolayev (drums).

The repertoire of ensemble consists of music of various times, genres and styles. The original sounding of ensemble is in combination of various instruments, in creation of a bright impression and mood. Each instrument represents different functions: theme, second voice, counterpoint, pedal - as it is accepted in orchestral music. Therefore sounding of ensemble can be compared with orchestral. In 1995 ensemble "Cottage" became the Winner of city-competition devoted to 100-years anniversary of L. Utyosov. The success to ensemble was brought by two compositions: the concert piece "Music-hall" by I. Dunayevsky and "Pavlovsk in the Evening" by M. Likhachov. These pieces are deserved became the visiting card of ensemble.

The ensemble "Cottage" often performs in ancient interiors of St.-Petersburg palaces and also in palaces and parks of Pavlovsk, Pushkin (Tsarskoye selo), Peterhof, where is brightly showing salon sounding of the group.
