Introduction

Party and singing My name is Volodymyr Kurylenko. I am musician from Ukraine. Willing to do something more for culture of Ukraine, I want to introduce you a unique women folk choir from Mutyn - a village neighbouring to my native town Krolevets in the North-East of Ukraine.

The age of women is from 60 till far after 80.

They sing Ukrainian folk songs which have deep historical roots.

What is unique?

  1. voicing of the choir
  2. they sing old Ukrainian songs in the way it was sung in that place for ages
  3. you can't hear it live anywhere, except for going right to that village
  4. not to forget - they are amateurs

Why do I record the choir?

Understanding that this is not a successful comercial project at all, I still do this because of love to Ukraine, love to simple people who populate it and because of wanting singing soul of my folks to stay in history. Big words, but that's what I feel.

Why do I have to hurry recording?

    Near the Mutyn village church
  1. age of women
  2. no follow up as
  3. less people stay in the villages; the young ones
  4. flee to the places to earn money and those are urban territories, so
  5. less time for pure life; hurrying and loosing identity
  6. westernizing in the wrong way
  7. more money - less culture
  8. isn't it a pity?..
